Accompaniment

Based on the principles of nonviolence, “accompaniment is the process of walking alongside someone and joining with them in solidarity and support.” (Witness for Peace) In the midst of repression and dangerous political rhetoric, accompaniment can diminish risk and danger for targeted people and help them feel less alone in their struggles and more encouraged. Relationships of friendship built through accompaniment strengthen our ability to organize and mobilize for change.

We know how difficult it is for those dealing with detention or deportation and Proyecto Faro is dedicated to building a strong network of volunteers to support immigrants who need who are experiencing difficulty. Accompaniment in our work takes the form of:

  • Emotional and spiritual support
  • Interpreting
  • Material support and donations
  • Transportation
  • Guardianship for unaccompanied minors
  • Sanctuary

Please be in touch with us if you are or a loved is one facing detention or deportation and you need support or if you are you able to volunteer to accompany vulnerable immigrants in any of these ways.
