Help Feed Food Insecure Immigrants in Rockland During Covid-19

The pandemic is impacting us all, and those most vulnerable are being hit the hardest. Immigrants with no safety net are losing work or, to feed their families, are forced to go to work, risking contracting and spreading the virus. We’ve heard from a number of families who don’t have money to buy food for their families. Rent is not even the priority for the moment– food and diapers are. If you can make a donation to help these families it would make a huge difference for people. While Proyecto Faro is working to refer people to food pantries, those projects are overwhelmed, some don’t provide personal hygiene products or baby items, and some can’t serve undocumented people. We are buying grocery gift cards to allow families to get exactly what they need. In these difficult times, we know many are stretched, but if you are able to make a donation, any size gift helps! (Donations are tax deductible through our fiscal sponsor, New Hempstead Presbyterian Church.)

Be sure to enter your contribution in the box labeled “Proyecto Faro” when you donate online. Select a one-time gift or a recurring donation. Monthly or quarterly gifts help us plan our work, as we can anticipate funding through the year, so please consider becoming a sustainer.

Checks made out to New Hempstead Presbyterian Church with “Proyecto Faro” in the memo can be mailed to:

Thank you so much for your support and commitment. Together, we can transform Rockland into a community where all residents are safe and have their needs met.
